Construction site accident kills 2 workers in Ontario

According to authorities, two men died in a construction site accident on March 27 in the High Park neighbourhood in Toronto. Reportedly, the accident occurred following a collapse of scaffolding shortly after 11 a.m.

The two men were contractors working at the site. The site, located on Bloor Street near its intersection with Pacific Avenue, is currently being developed into a condominium complex. Officers with the Toronto Police Department were called to the scene along with emergency medical personnel. One worker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The other, a 37-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. After arrival, he was also pronounced dead.

The union that oversees the contractors has reportedly stated that all safety precautions were being followed at the time of the accident. There is no word on what led to the collapse of the scaffolding or if anyone else was injured besides the two men.
